History

The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is by far the largest university establishment in Greece. The number of students enrolled is about 58.000 in 41 departments that cover a wide range of scientific disciplined, some of them unique in greece. The teaching and research staff consists of over 2000 professors and lecturers and 3500 support teaching and technical personnel. The Faculty of Technology is one of the the seven university Faculties and consists of seven Departments.

The Computational Methods and Information Security Laboratory is part of the Faculty of Technology. It was established by presidential deree in 1992 and has as its main objectives to undertake research work in informatics and to support the educational and research activities in informatics of the students of the faculty of technology.

The laboratory is active today in several research areas, mostly through the research activities of its members and research programs, projects and studies financed by the European Commission, the Greek Science and Research council, the industry, etc.
